Robert Dunsmuir was born in 1825 and died in 1889 he was a mine contractor and owned and operated a mine he was recognized as a national historical figure by the Canadian government. He was one of the founders of the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway Company and all of these projects made him one of the richest men at the time.
